Sunday we had a full day of sun and cool coastal breeze. We took advantage as much as we could to stay outside, as today I edit photos and type watching bands of showers wash away the spring pollen that has covered everything in a sheen of creamy yellow.
For the outing of the day we took a ride (bikes) over to the largest shrine in the area. Stone and I had visited last year, in the fall and as I expected the red gates were even more vibrant against the green growth of the spring. On the last trip Stone was "locked" to my chest in the bjorn ; however, on this trip there would be no restraints ... other than those pesky parents keeping him from getting into too much trouble. By far the most excitement of the day from his perspective was the waterfall that was running (it is an artificial falls) in the multiple gated shrine area. Once he saw what he had been hearing his only goal was to get as close as possible to all of the running water. He was mesmerized and giddy. About the only thing we had to say to get him away was home and splashy splash.
Joan had filled an inflatable pool with water before we left to warm in the sun. Indeed when we returned the water was quite warm and Stone had a few layers removed and the splashing commenced. After quite a few minutes of splashing he decided he wanted to play elsewhere ... yet each time he got more than ten or so feet away from the pool he would look back and come back for more.A great day outside and perhaps when the temperatures get warm enough we can play in the big pool - the Sea of Japan!
Edit: Stone and I got out for a hike today, despite the rain and cool breeze, so you will also find a few photos from the hike as well.
