Stone has acquired a new skill as demonstrated by Joan: marching. Considering his age he is quite adept at keeping time - albeit for very short periods. So in honor of my upbringing I downloaded a couple of albums worth of Sousa marches to keep him in step. He as of yet, has not exactly figured that he should match the music.
On the language front, he is more and more interested in trying new sounds and words. While there are really only a few that he uses consistently, as I sound out a new word he will give it a shot. Typically they are just adaptations of his current vocabulary. The latest addition is bubble. While you might think that this is due to him chasing soapy spheres around, it is in fact due to the tattoo on my right arm. Joan calls that particular skin ink my "bubbles" and as Stone was intrigued by them, he got to learn the new word. And people think tattoos can't be helpful ...
We are approaching the end of our time here in Japan, and we are already looking forward to the unknown that awaits us as we return to the states. I am sure over the coming weeks the posts will be a combination of retrospection as well as forecasts ... which is not a bad thing, so long as we remember to enjoy the time we are in each moment we are in it.
